Prof Sally Davies, England’s chief medical officer, is urging world leaders to address the growing threat of antibiotic resistance. We are facing a dreadful post-antibiotic apocalypse, where common medical interventions become very risky. If no action is taken, it has been estimated that drug-resistant infections will kill 10 million people a year by 2050. It will first and most affect the ones that are disadvantaged. It is high time for action.
